Casual dress does not mean sloppy dress. Casual dress is a step down from business dress and a step up from sports dress.
A simple example of casual men's dress would be a pair of casual trousers worn with a snappy open collar sports shirt, a simple blazer or sports coat and a pair of shined tie or slip on shoes.
In fall and winter a nice merino wool sweater can be worn benefit the jacket. On cold winter days a wool bomber jacket can be substituted for the blazer or sports jacket. Complete the outfit with a wool scarf to add a pleasant touch of color and show that the gentleman actually cares about himself and is not a foolish man braving the cold.
The belt always needs to match the color of the shoes and the socks need to match the trousers. A gentleman is never ashamed to wear a fedora hat on winter days and nights to keep his head warm.
Jeans and shirt are not to be confused as casual dress, but rather to be considered sports dress. In some occasions, a nice pair of jeans worn with a sports shirt and sports jacket can be considered casual when worn with a pair of casual leather shoes.
Ask yourself this question concerning dress. How do you feel in the presence of others? If you are satisfied with the answer, then you are probably dressed right for the occasion, or you just do not care at all about the opinions of others. A gentleman, however, should care about the opinions and feelings of others and try to get his dress and occasion matched.
It is like my Daddy told me many times, Son, it just costs a nickel more to go first class. Apply this to your dress and you will be well dressed and a happy camper. Your campfire will not be smoking out the neighbors, but rather burning hot. You will go unnoticed until seen, and be warmth to those that are close by.
It's hard to explain, but there is something warmly special about being in the presence of a well-dressed man, especially if the well-dressed man is you. You feel good about yourself and others fell good about you. It 'sa win-win situation. Just because a gentleman is in casual dress does not mean he is not well-dressed.
Dress as though you are in the presence of the President, or better yet, dress as though you are in the presence of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Dress like a true king, because you are.
Make it count the first time. You are not guaranteed a second time to make a secret impression in the life of another.
